Singapore, 20 January 2006 – Singapore Mainboard listed MediaRing Limited (M09.SI, www.mediaring.com), the leading global provider of pure-play VoIP telephony services, today announced that their feature-rich “MediaRing Talk” service which facilitates PC-to-PC and PC-to-Phone calling, will be part of the Google Talk federation. This will enable MediaRing Talk users to exchange messages and communicate with users on Google Talk. Currently in beta, MediaRing plans for general availability of this feature by the second quarter of 2006.

Free to download and register, MediaRing Talk offers an integrated presence engine, instant messaging, unlimited PC-to-PC calls amongst users and extremely low rates for PC-to-Phone calls to any global wireline or wireless phone – benefits gained from MediaRing’s inter-connection with more than 90 global carriers and a network spanning more than 200 countries. MediaRing’s managed voice network along with patented voice delivery technology helps to provide near toll quality voice with minimal bandwidth usage. To cater to a global user base, MediaRing Talk provides multi-language user interface in English, Japanese and Traditional Chinese with development of several other languages in the pipeline. To this end, MediaRing Talk offers an easy to use interface and seamlessly works behind NAT and/or Firewall devices.

MediaRing Talk is powered by IETF’s XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) – an open, XML-based protocol for near real-time extensible messaging and presence. With voice communications (PC-to-PC and PC-to-Phone), the application uses standard-based SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). MediaRing Talk leverages on its extensive and highly scalable network of call control, authentication and voice media optimization resources spread out on a global basis.
